Let’s examine what the appeal of the games are for olympians: sponsorship deals, medals, world records, titles, bragging rights, tradition, fame, pride, ectera ectera…So you see, it doesn’t really matter what I do, the show must go on and it is going on! Let’s be honest, if America can trade with China, then we can certainly play with them!

My Farewell to the McDonald’s $1 Menu

I knew it was too good to last this long! My extremely cheap $2 lunch of a double cheeseburger and sweet tea will be no longer come 2009. The dollar menu has become very dear to me in times of financial hardship. All I can say is that it was fun while it lasted. So long Dollar menu, we had good times together. I’ll probably have to pay $3 or $4 dollars for the same lunch next year and I hope I’ll be able to afford to it. What was your favorite item on the Dollar Menu?

Obama forced to be “unfriendly!”

Obama & Ludacris

You know that the United States is divided in so many ways. The fact that a person such as U.S. Senator Barack Obama would even consider to run for president is mind-boggling.The fact that he is well educated and is an experienced government official is well apparently irrelevant these days. In fact, it’s the color of one’s skin that really matters, right? Well, no, that’s wrong! John McCain doesn’t get pestered or criticized for hangin’ with his sleazy corporate friends and so Obama should be able to hang with his politically controversial  friends. I mean really, do you agree with everything your friends do, um, no, right?!

Early Termination Cell Phone Fees To Be Illegal in California!

As of July 31, 2008, cell phone users have gained the upper hand . This is important because there are many people who have had to pay fees to disconnect their service for one reason or another. I currently have nine more months in my service contract. Since my funds are pretty low, I requested to temporarily stop my service, but I was informed that At&t no longer offers such a service. Presently, I am forced to continue to pay for a phone service (my contract started before May, so it’s $175 for me to disconnect but it’s $5 less each month for you if contract started after May) that I do not necessarily need at the moment  because I use my home phone service. I will keep my fingers crossed that the decision does not get reversed because I would like to discontinue my contract with my cell provider without paying the hefty termination fees. Are you in the same predicament?!

Libraries in California should have free WiFi!

WiFi

I’ve noticed that there are not enough available free hot spots in the city where I live. I find that inexcusable because this technology is essential to our daily lives. Recently I went back to my home town and discovered that the local library is a Wifi hot spot! Wow, I was so impressed with the old library because the new library where I live does not offer it. The officials in charge of overseeing the libraries should make Wifi hot spots standard in all their libraries. All the public libraries in California should offer the same services! Have you had the same problems?! If so, at what locations?

This week I logged in a lot of miles. I have to admit that I’ve had to make drastic changes in how I represent myself both on the highway and as a vehicle owner. Being broke has taken me to the realm of not having any money to spend. I have implemented ways to reduce the money spent on gas. First, reduce the amount of driving. Second, clean out the trunk. Third, drive at 55-60 mph on the highway. Fourth, find the cheaper gas station. Finally, pump gas in the morning when it is cooler. These are tips that I have used and have determined to be successful for me so far. What’s your favorite way to conserve your gas usage?
